Story
Trick scams and thefts are part of everyday life in Rome – a world in which Nico Giraldi (Tomas Milian) is very familiar. The full-bearded long-haired man doesn’t show that he is a policeman. But that is deceptive, because Giraldi, whose mother was a prostitute and who grew up in the streets of Rome, knows his crooks and knows how to get hold of them. But when two little thieves accidentally steal the briefcase from the American Norman Shelley (Jack Palance), the situation changes. Officially, Shelley does not turn on the police because there are supposedly only worthless things in the briefcase, but when the thieves open the case, they know it will be dangerous. Soon one of them will be brutally murdered …

Story
In Rom gehören Trickbetrügereien und Diebstähle zum Alltag – eine Welt in der sich Nico Giraldi (Tomas Milian) bestens auskennt. Das er Polizist ist, sieht man dem vollbärtigen Langhaarigen nicht an. Aber das täuscht, denn Giraldi, dessen Mutter Prostituierte war und der in den Straßen Roms aufgewachsen ist, kennt seine Gauner und weiß, wie er sie zu fassen bekommt.
Doch als zwei kleine Diebe zufällig die Aktentasche des Amerikaners Norman Shelley (Jack Palance) entwenden, verändert sich die Situation. Offiziell schaltet Shelley die Polizei nicht ein, weil angeblich nur wertlose Dinge in der Aktentasche waren, aber als die Diebe den Koffer öffnen, wissen sie, das es gefährlich wird. Bald wird einer von ihnen brutal ermordet…
Der erste „Monnezza“ der am deutschen Markt Jahre später zu Tony Marroni wurde. Bei seinem ersten Auftritt ist die Rolle aber noch ernst angelegt und im Prinzip handelt es sich um einen astreinen Poliziotti mit einem räudigen Proleten als Zivilfahnder auf seinem Motorrad.
